This painting is based on a nightmare I had. Like most nightmares, they rarely come to a logical conclusion, but after waking up from it, I did manage to write down a description of what I saw. The next morning I was able to interpret what it all meant and began, as I usually do, with a sketch. Unfortunately I am not able to locate the original sketch, otherwise I would share it with you. If and when I do find it, I will post it here.
Back to the painting. The large white monster on the left side of the painting represents everything that is stopping me from reaching my goals and realizing my dreams. It can represent the toxic people in my life, my lack of money, my battle with depression, my lack of confidence, etc. The innocent, frightened creature on the right, well that little guy represents me and I am lost in a dark desert like landscape, unable to escape. Even though it is night and it is dark, there is still a bright sun which represents the light in the darkness, God, always there guiding me, giving me strength. The white monster is saying “Where do you think you’re going? You ain’t goin’ nowhere little one. You can’t make it out there. You’ll be eaten alive. Go back into your cozy little bed and keep dreaming.” But that sun above is saying: “With me, nothing is impossible!”
