This was an experimental piece that I finished in only two sittings. I say experimental as I mixed hard pastels with the acrylic paints and have no idea if it will stand the test of time. I first quickly drew out the image with charcoal and then blocked in color using the pastels. I then painted on top of the pastel with acrylics. I noticed how interesting it looked as the wet paint blended with the pastel color and kept going, blocking in pastels and then mixing with the acrylics. I was quite amazed at how quickly I finished this as I never painted anything so quickly before.
I only named this “Crucified” because of her pose. And her nakedness reminded me of sin and then reminded me of this Bible Passage:
Galatians 2:20King James Version (KJV)
20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
I used an old public domain photo as the reference for the artwork.
